Almost 4,600 property owners have paid their Nagpur property taxes online, giving the NMC a deposit of nearly Rs 2 crore and a combined refund of about Rs 20 lakh.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Interestingly, these taxpayers have also received an additional 10 percent rebate for paying it before June 30, 2023. To put the yearly collection in perspective, the property tax collected in Nagpur during the same period in FY 2022-23 was Rs 35 lakh from about 880 taxpayers. The NMC continues to offer 10 percent and five percent rebates to taxpayers who pay the due amount before June 30 and December 31, respectively.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>NMC also offers incentives for adopting environmentally beneficial schemes such as rainwater collection, trash decomposition, wastewater recycling and reuse, and rooftop solar systems. The organization provides a 5% discount on property taxes for implementing one scheme. If more than one eco-friendly approach is utilized, an additional 10% rebate is provided.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Although the NMC property tax department proposed raising general taxes from 14 percent to 18 percent over five slabs, the municipal body did not implement the change. It has upped the FY 2023-24 Budget estimate by more than Rs 650 crore. Five other taxes were proposed for an increase of 1 to 2 percent.
