If such people fail to disclose the information sought by the city&#8217;s property surveyors, their utilities, such as power and water, may be shut off.&nbsp; MCG commissioner Vinay Pratap issued the new direction to the tax department after the department encountered several cases of housing societies and residents in the new sectors attempting to hide information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a property owner fails to pay his tax within the set time frame, he will often be penalized 1.5% per month on the outstanding payment due. The authority applies a fine equal to tax evasion if a property owner knowingly underreports his property tax. If there is an underreporting of tax due, 1.5% per month interest will be assessed.
