Ambedkar Statue Unveil Ceremony
Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandra Shekar Rao announced, On the Occasion of Dr. Babasahed Ambedkar Jayanti unveils the 125-feet bronze Ambedkar Statue in Hyderabad on April 14, 2023. Ambedkar is credited with founding the Indian Constitution. It is Ambedkar’s tallest Bronze statue and is situated near Hussain Sagar Lake.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, was an Indian jurist, economist, politician, and social reformer who is known for his contributions to the Indian Constitution, social justice, and the empowerment of marginalized communities. He was born on 14 April 1891 and died on 6 December 1956.
The Telangana government also invited Prakash Ambedkar, Ambedkar’s grandson, to the inauguration of the statue. As part of the opening, they used a large crane to remove the curtain from the tower. They invite only religious people to celebrate according to tradition.

Where and Which Stone Used for Ambedkar Statue
Stone for the statue was obtained from quarries in Agra, Noida, and Jaipur. The statue was constructed using 110 tonnes of bronze and about 155 tonnes of steel. Ambedkar’s statue will now compete with the Buddha statue at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial and Hussain Sagar as a major tourism destination.
The statue was designed by famous artists – 98-year-old Ram Vanji Sutar and his son Anil Ram Sutar, winner of the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards. Known for its monumental sculptures, including Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Statue of Unity in Gujarat (597 feet), Noida was recently entered into the London Book of Records as the world’s tallest sculpture by Ram Sutar Art Creations.
The Chief Minister pointed out that Ambedkar included a provision for independent states in Article 3 of the Constitution, which made it possible for Telangana to become a state.
He said that Dr. Ambedkar’s tallest statue in India next to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, opposite the Buddha statue and next to the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial inspires people every day and inspires the entire state government.
