KONDAGATTU ANJANEYA SWAMY TEMPLE – TELANGANA TOURISM
The temple offers a spectacular vista, flanked by caves and the Rayuni fort to the north. The caves and fort are also attractive tourist destinations. According to residents, the temple’s history began some 300 years ago, when a cowherd named Singam Sanjeevudu traveled to this steep terrain in quest of one of his buffaloes. After a tiring quest, he quickly dropped into a deep sleep. It is believed that Lord Anjaneya Swamy arrived in Sanjeeva’s dream and told him where the missing buffalo was, and when he awoke to begin hunting in the correct direction, he discovered an enlightened idol of Anjaneya Swamy.
He then constructed a tiny temple for Lord Anjaneya. People who do not have children are said to be blessed with one after devoting 40 days of devotion to Anjaneya Swamy here. The temple also has 45 Dharmashalas for the convenience of devotees. The temple is located roughly 115 kilometers from Nizamabad and 160 km from Hyderabad.
