The Uttarakhand government has announced plans to construct the world’s longest ropeway at an elevation of 11,500 feet above sea level, connecting Sonprayag to Kedarnath. This 11.5-km-long ropeway will significantly reduce travel time for pilgrims visiting the sacred Kedarnath Temple in the Rudraprayag district. Currently, pilgrims trek 16 km from Gaurikund to Kedarnath, which takes an entire day. With the new ropeway, the journey from Sonprayag to Kedarnath will be completed in just 36 minutes, making it a game-changer for the Char Dham Yatra.
