About One Acre
One of the oldest units used to measure land worldwide is the acre, which was first used in the imperial system of units. An area that is one furlong long and four rods wide can also be described as an acre.
An acre of land can be measured in a variety of ways, including circles, rectangles, and even pentagons. One acre of land can be any length or width as long as it doesn’t exceed 43,560 square feet in total area.
For example, sixteen tennis courts might be built on a one-acre plot of ground.

About Kanal
In Pakistan and India, the unit of measurement for area is the kanal. The majority of usage for this widely recognized unit of measurement occurs in northern India. Most Indian states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, have rural areas where kanal is used. The use of kanals has decreased as a result of the use of common land measurement units like hectare and acre. In India, a kanal is equal to 5,445 square feet, or one-eighth of an acre.
Kanals are also used as a unit of measurement in some regions of Pakistan. The value of a kanal is not the same as what is valued in India. A kanal is equivalent to 5,400 square feet in Pakistan and 4,500 square feet in Lahore.
During British control in India, the units of measurement known as kanals and marlas were standardized. One kanal was defined as one-eighth of an acre, 505.857 square meters, and 605 square yards.
