Overview of E-Swathu
E-Swathu is a Government of Karnataka scheme designed to clarify ownership details of properties in rural areas. It is operated by the Rural Development and Panchayath Raj Department. Property owners can obtain their E-Khatha through the E-Swathu portal at e-swathu.kar.nic.in. The scheme aims to reduce forgeries in land and property transactions and to regulate registrations of plots/properties in unauthorized layouts.
Purpose of E-Swathu
The E-Swathu portal maintains up-to-date records of ownership and physical details of properties under each Gram Panchayat’s jurisdiction. It also updates details in cases of ownership transfer, gifts, inheritance, government acquisition, court cases, liabilities, restrictions, etc. This system facilitates easy sharing of property details with other government departments, town planning offices, and courts.
The website is primarily in Kannada, so users who cannot read Kannada should seek assistance from someone who can.
